Nearly Rs 2 Cr worth of Ganja seized in Hyderabad

Based on specific intelligence, officers of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Hyderabad intercepted a Tata Truck on Wednesday at Panthangi Toll Plaza, on Vijayawada-Hyderabad National Highway in Choutuppal Mandal, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district. After searching the vehicle, the officers found 546 HDPE packages wrapped with BOPP self-adhesive tape with a total weight of 1121.5 kgs of marijuana, a narcotic drug covered under NDPS Act, 1985, concealed beneath the load of fly ash bricks.


The value of seized substance in the grey market would be nearly Rs 2 crore. The contraband was loaded in to the vehicle at Sileru agency area and was destined to Sholapur, Maharashtra.


The vehicle which has been used for concealment and transport of the contraband has been seized under the provisions of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. Three persons including the mastermind have been arrested
