Crime: Man kills his pregnant wife with knife

A woman was killed by her husband here at Mallapallyvarigudem village of Thipparthy mandal in the Nalgonda district on Monday. According to the police, the accused, identified as Janjirala Srinivas slit the throat of his wife, Mallepally Hasia, 22, who was pregnant, for rejecting his proposal for abortion. Unable to bear her husband’s torture, Hasia had gone to her mother’s house in the village. On Monday evening, Srinivas came to Hasia’s house and attacked her with a knife. Later, he escaped from the place.

Hasia and Srinivas both from Mallapallyvarigudem village were in love, but Srinivas later rejected to marry her. With this, Hasia had staged a dharna in front of Srinivas’s house six months ago. Following this, Srinivas married Hasia due to pressure from the elders. After Hasia got pregnant, Srinivas started harassing her to get an abortion and even threaten to kill her, if she didn’t accept. A case has been registered and a hunt is on to nab the accused.
