Police recovered stolen marriage ornaments

Karimnagar: Everybody knows how difficult it is for a middle-class family to perform a girl’s marriage. One can imagine the situation of the family if gold and other ornaments bought for the marriage are stolen just a few weeks before the wedding.This is exactly what happened in the case of Gajjela Rajesham, who fixed his daughter Haritha Priyadarshini’s wedding for August 30. 


On August 7 night, burgles fled with 23 tolas of gold and 32 tolas of silver ornaments from his house in Garshakurthi, Gangadhara mandal, when he was away distributing wedding cards to family members, relatives and well-wishers.


Karimnagar Police Commissionerate cops, who registered the case based on the complaint by the family, traced the accused within 17 days and recovered the entire gold and silver ornaments stolen from the house.


Two burglars Dusa Lingaiah (29), Thangallapalli mandal of Sircilla and Guntuka Swamy (33), Garshakurthi of Gangadhara mandal were arrested and produced before media by Commissioner of Police, VB Kamalasan Reddy on Sunday.


Speaking on the occasion, Rajesham thanked the police for protecting the life of his daughter by tracing the burglars within a short period. Marriage might have been cancelled if gold and silver ornaments were not traced, he opined.


Bridegroom, Haritha Priyadarshini also thanked each and every cop who involved in the investigation of the case.Explaining the modus operandi of the gang, Kamalasan Reddy informed that the gang involved in twelve offences including four in Karimnagar and remaining in Sircilla.


Duo, who used to work in Bhiwandi, retuned back to the district seven years ago and engaged in handloom work in Thangallapalli. Addict to lead lavish life, they begun burglaries for easy money. 40 tulas of gold and 1.5 kg silver ornaments were recovered from the gang.
