Elaborate arrangements have been made for the Bonalu celebrations in the city this year. Ahead of the festival, City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar had a co-ordination meeting with all departments at the Salarjung Museum here on Friday.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Bonalu Utsav Committee, GHMC, Water Board, Electricity Board, Endowments Department, Revenue Department, Roads and Buildings, Excise Department, Health, Fire Services, Road Transport Corporation, etc.”There will be massive security arrangements for the Bonalu procession on behalf of the Hyderabad City Police. The entire procession will be under CCTV surveillance,” Anjani Kumar said.

Apart from 100 surveillance cameras along the procession route, another 200 cameras will be installed at various points to monitor the procession, he said. On behalf of the Hyderabad police, She teams, Anti-Sabotage teams, Anti-Snatching teams, Task force, Central Crime Station teams and other special platoons will be deployed. The Commissioner requested all the other department officials to co-ordinate with the Police to conduct the festival smoothly.

He also appealed to the citizens not to believe any rumours and warned miscreants on strict action if any content that could lead to breach of peace was circulated or posted on social media.

About 3,000 police personnel deployed for bandobast at the Ujjaini Mahankali temple in Secunderabad this year. Officials said there will be no Disco Jockeys allowed. There will be about 25 She teams specifically deployed in the temple surroundings to keep a check on harassment of women. Efforts are on to use battery cars to help senior citizens at the temple as well. Traffic restrictions will be in place on the roads leading to the temple too.
