The Congress high command is seriously concentrating on Telangana state with the hope of coming to power in the state and winning more Lok Sabha seats in 2019.

According to top sources, AICC president Rahul Gandhi has asked party incharge R.C. Khuntia and TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy to submit reports separately on their action plan to bring the Congress to power. Mr Gandhi has asked them to submit their reports within 10 days, and decided to keep pending the appointment of the TPCC executive committee and other committees till the papers are examined.

Dissidents have infor-med the high command that with the current state unit leadership it is not possible for the Congress to come to power. Mr Uttam Kumar Reddy and Mr Khuntia have told the high command that the Congress winning power in Telangana state is a certainty. It is against this backdrop of counter claims that Mr Gandhi has asked the TPCC president and the AICC incharge to submit their reports.

Mr Uttam Kumar Reddy recently stayed in Delhi for four days, and met Mr Gandhi which was when he was asked for the report. Mr Khuntia also met Mr Gandhi who asked him to submit his report.Sources said that the high command was not happy with the list submitted by the TPCC on executive committee and other committees. The party will take a decision on the committees after going through the reports submitted by Mr Uttam Kumar Reddy and Mr Khuntia, sources said. Dissidents have assured the high command that if the TPCC leadership changed they will take the responsibility of bringing the Congress to power in the state.It is for the first time that Mr Uttam Kumar Reddy is facing dissidence after his appointment and, with elections around the corner, it is a tough situation for him.

Hyderabad: The TS Public Service Commission informed the high court that it would consider the engineering diploma on par with Intermediate in accordance with GO No 112 issued in 2001.The panel was hearing a petition by filed by one K. Ganesh questioning rejection of his candidature for the post of forest beat officer on the ground that the three-year engineering diploma was not equal to Intermediate.
