Hospital to get new 128 slice CT scan equipment


Governing body of Nizams Institute of Medical Sciences has resolved to step up basic facilities and also provide emergency and modern medical equipment for the patients.


The 75th governing body met under the chairmanship of Health Minister C. Laxma Reddy here on Thursday and took several key decisions including construction of a bridge between the NIMS Speciality wing and the Out Patient wing for the convenience of patients and the hospital staff and provide speedy medical services.


The Governing Board approved the proposal to construct additional ward for the Medical Oncology and this would facilitate treating more patients. A new building will be constructed housing physiotherapy, library and MRD wings and the Minister directed NIMS Director K. Manohar to prepare necessary plans for them.


Approval was also given for the purchase of 128 slice CT scan equipment for the C - Arm and Radiology wings of Neurosurgery departments.


Mr. Laxma Reddy said that apart from the poor, middle class patients were coming to the NIMS as it has better facilities than other super speciality hospitals in the public sector and the Institute should provide medical treatment to meet the expectations of the patients.


The board decided to take a positive view of the employees’ problems, address them and also respond immediately to the media reports on the state of affairs in the NIMS. It also decided to take a serious view of baseless reports.


Medical and Health Department Special Chief Secretary Rajeshwar Tiwari and other members attended the meeting.
